Mixed Media Collage using hand embroidery telling a visual narrative of the past, present and future, all entwined together sharing a captured moment in time. The hand embroidery is a black female artist who lived in the 1800s and was buried in an AME Mother Bethel Burying ground and forgotten by society by the 1900s when the site was turned into a kids playground. The collage nature creates an understanding of the season of spring while the painting and beadwork shares the movement of societal migration. The vintage beads were purchased at the trail of tears trading post in Oklahoma creating an environment that bridges and connects us all together.
