“Themes I explore in my practice are nostalgia, storytelling, and memory. I gravitate towards these themes because they are deeply personal yet universally resonant experiences. Objects baked in childhood hold significant emotional weight. They are soaked in the owner’s core memories. Yet society often expects us to discard these items as we transition into adulthood, seeing them as symbols of immaturity. While the process of letting go can be necessary for growth, it can also create a sense of loss, regret, or melancholy. Many people, years later, feel sorrow over the things they’ve left behind.
In my practice I aim to breathe new life into discarded objects, extending their life and elevating them to the status of art. By taking on this burden, I hope to provide a sense of comfort to those who may have once cherished these items, reassuring them that their memories are not lost or forgotten. The objects are no longer bound for a landfill but have been transformed into something meaningful and enduring.”
