Magali, A Cult is a multidisciplinary artist and is currently working on salt sculpture and experimenting with using salt water to transform/rust/crystallize other objects. Magali is working with the notion of preservation, and destruction of objects through the process of salting - looking at salt's distinct and important history as the first preservative.
This includes rusting large pieces of metal in salt water baths and crystallizing different fabrics.
This theme began as a dive into complicated maternal relations, allegorized through the salt cave. A cave is a humid, protected womb that fosters much life - salt is sterile, abrasive, purifying and preserving.
