Flux is a series of butterflies, comprised of 78 individual cut and soldered glass pieces and built from original stained glass patterns. The butterflies are designed to be in motion to reflect life, rebirth, and opportunity for change.

Visually, the pieces are seen as beautiful, delicate, and graceful. However, the butterfly’s metamorphosis mirrors the difficult process of change and vulnerability that I challenge viewers to reflect upon. Representing transformation in the literal sense, but also embodying cultural signifiers like the butterfly effect, where small actions can magnify to larger impact later on.

I urge the audience to confront areas of their own community where change is long overdue. To take note of the butterfly’s flight, to feel their movement, and shed the skin of the past. To stimulate reflection and compel oneself to action, no matter how small.
