My works, rooted in identity, investigate inherent connectivity and explore the balance between fragility and strength. I work with saris left to me by my mother, fibers that carry the presence and resilience of the women in my lineage. Their histories are embedded in these materials, serving as both personal inheritance and symbolic thread.
I re-contextualize this fiber with wire and paper to create nets, paintings, and sculptures. These works speak to mending and reassembly, where the negotiation between wholeness and fragmentation becomes visual and tactile. They offer coherence in a fractured world, symbols of repair that raise deeper questions of fragmentation, belonging, and the invisible ties that shape us.
The act of assembling, knotting, and connecting speaks to the human desire to make whole what has been broken. The rhythms of return and renewal are integral to my practice, expressed through the repeated use of circular nets that speak to life’s cycles, rupture and repair, loss and restoration, and reflect a belief in resilience as a process rather than a fixed state. By incorporating circularity into my visual lexicon, I honor the quiet momentum of transformation. Each loop or ring becomes a site of return, not to the same point, but to a deeper understanding of what it means to endure, shift, and carry forward.
